| Thalluscrustose, leprose, whitish grey to pale green or yellow-grey, diffuse, discontinuous to partly continuous, forming irregular patches to 2 cm wide, composed of soredia mixed with some colourless medullary hyphae. Margin not lobed. Soredia fine, to 25–35 µm wide, sometimes in loosely packed ±irregular consoredia to 50 µm wide, very fragile, usually lacking distinct projecting hyphae. Medulla absent (thallus usually unstratified) or, in the thickest parts of the thallus, rarely with an indistinct white medulla. Hyphae 2–5 μm thick. Lower surface not apparent.Photobiont cells ±spherical, 6–10 μm diam. Hypothallus absent. CHEMISTRY: Thallus K–, C–, KC–, P–, UV–; containing obtusatic acid (major), norobtusatic acid (minor), placodiolic acid (trace), barbatic acid (minor or trace). |

| Rare in Vic.; grows on bryophytes, dead wood and at the base of trees in wet Eucalyptus forest. Also in Europe. | ||
